Responses to Comcast's "We're friends with net neutrality - Honest!"

Do you keep seeing this from Comcast?

There are plenty more here:
https://twitter.com/comcast/status/885165857810386946?lang=en

Really?

Not so much

Verizon isn't spamming my twitter feed, but still...( From Techdirt who's following this well)
Verizon Lobbies FCC To Block States From Protecting Broadband Privacy, Net Neutrality

Since the FCC is trying to kill Net Neutrality, many (30 atp)  states are passing their own net neutrality and privacy laws and the ISP's are freaking out, and the lies are coming at broadband speed.  And you guessed it, Comcast was right there, although hiding behind the name "Internet Association"

This set of pop up lies was played on TV in California, and And EFF's blog is a good place to find the shenanigan here,  or here - the pop-ups they're talking about are the ones the ISP's are saying they'll have to put in themselves every time they want to sell your data, unless you opt-out.  They will, however, have to notify you every time they change their terms of service, which they don't want.

We can act now by supporting the EFF

Update (11/6/2017) :  And they just keep on giving - and crying to the FCC to make the states stop hurting their feelings: Comcast Urges FCC To Ban States From Protecting Broadband Privacy, Net

Just remember - Nobody Cares!  and These are not the droids you're looking for...

Not security, but Twitter and Comcast speed test fun

I found this on ARS - 3-Feb-2016

Angry Comcast customer set up Raspberry Pi to auto-tweet speed test results
http://arstechnica.com/business/2016/02/comcast-customer-made-bot-that-tweets-at-comcast-when-internet-is-sl\ow/

Which pointed to the twitter bot code on rasp-pi

Which ran speedtest-cli from Github
https://github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli

which showed these results
daddy@raspi ~/speedtest $ ./speedtest-cli

Have Comcast? Have a data cap? (yes). Are they billing accurately? Do they care?

Are they billing accurately?  Maybe?  Do they care?  Definitely not!

http://arstechnica.com/business/2015/12/comcast-admits-data-cap-meter-blunder-charges-wrong-customer-for-overage/

"I called Comcast... and was patronizingly informed that 'it must be somebody stealing your Wi-Fi,'

When he got Ars Technica involved:

Oleg provided us his full name and address so we could check into his situation with Comcast. The company investigated the problem after being contacted by Ars and confirmed that its meter readings were inaccurate. “We have reached out and resolved this,” a Comcast spokesperson told Ars. “There was a technical error associated with his account, which we have since corrected.”
 ...
“It turns out their system had my modem MAC address entered incorrectly, there was an off-by-one typo that was hard to see so they were counting data from some modem who knows where,” Oleg told Ars.

Comcast.  Die.  Die. Die.

Google: Another update, Pando shows that Google joined a cartel forcing down IT workers wages

According to Pando Daily, Google, Apple  and a host of other companies got together, and made a list of companies that wouldn't call each other for tech workers.  How nice.  There is even (email) evidence of at least 1 recruiter who lost his job for being overly aggressive in, umm, recruiting, at a company he wasn't supposed to touch, but wasn't told until, well, he might've got the hint at the same time he was walked out.

The whole list (from Pando again) is:
 • Apple, Inc
• Comcast Corporation
• DoubleClick
• Genentech
• IBM Corporation (Junior hires okay—also applies to subsidiaries)
• Illumita
• Intel Corporation
• Intuit
• Microsoft
• Oglivy
• WPP
And might have gotten as far as a million workers.  There's an antitrust lawsuit in the works, scheduled for May, but things are settling out of court.  Seeing as some of this is serious, of course there are out of court settlements.
